  4. By creating a student sample, it is easy to then tell where problems can arise within the research process. The project requirements can then be adjusted to stop the "frustration point" of the students before they happen. Rubrics, which I hand out before a project begins, can then be adjusted. Students will then know exactly what is expected of the final product.

  5. Creating a sample alerts me to some of the difficulties that students may encounter. Since I have a high level of frustration with tyring to get the technology to work, I feel like I am in the students' shoes.
I need to monitor my students'work carefully and provide scaffolding when necessary. Frequent informal conferences will need to occur. For this reason all work will need to be done in class.

  6. Creating a student sample clarifies what your expectations are and it can help you find flaws in your plan. I've learned that when I have to perform the same activities as my students, I often find my expectations are too high, not high enough, or there is a problem with the process or instructions.

When you create your own sample you really see if the objectives are clearly being met. Does the activity generate thoughtful thinking and learning or is just an activity that produces something with no real value and no real learning experience taking place.
